Thank you so much for all of your kind words about my screened porch makeover that went live on Home Depot’s Apron blog last week! I truly loved putting this space together, despite some of the days spent working out there wearing winter gear layers and fighting off freezing cold fingertips. I couldn’t help but laugh a few times at the name “Patio Style Challenge” because it really was a challenge for me a few times with the cold temps around here.
Challenges and frosty fingers aside, I’m so very grateful to have had the opportunity to parter with The Home Depot on this project. I’ve mentioned this before, but the screened porch was one of the major selling points for me on this house and outfitting it so perfectly for the way we use it was an amazing opportunity that I know we’ll enjoy for many, many years to come.
I’m sharing some more photos of the space here today, and also letting you in on sources for all the pieces I used to decorate the room. I’ll share tutorials for the DIY projects over the next few weeks, and the tutorial for building the electric fireplace surround will be published on Home Depot’s site soon.
The room has sort of three “zones” – a seating area with built-in electric fireplace, a bistro-sized dining area, and a bar cart.
THE SEATING AREA
The three main things I did to define the seating area were use an outdoor area rug under the sectional and chairs, hang outdoor curtains around the edges of the space, and center the furniture on a new built-in electric fireplace. The rug, curtains, and fireplace also give the porch a cozy, polished feel, which is exactly what I wanted for this outdoor living space.
Sofa and Coffee Table | Lounge Chairs | Armless Sectional Pieces | Corner Sectional Piece | Outdoor Rug
The rug does wonders for giving the seating area an outdoor living room feel. My favorite part about it is how plush it is for an outdoor rug. The pattern has a slightly raised pile and it is so comfy underfoot.
And the pillows. Ohhhhh, the pillows. It was love at first sight for me when Lacefield Designs released their new outdoor collection. I just can’t quit navy blue and deep pink together.
Outdoor Curtains | Navy Pillow | Pink Corner Pillow
Blue Spotted Pillow | Pink Geometric Pillow
French press | Cups & Saucers | Silver Cocktail Napkin Box
The fireplace is, hands down, my favorite part of this room makeover. I love the look and feel of it, but it also gives us a good extra two months of use, which is just fantastic. I want to get every last minute of use out of this room and having it useable for a good half of the year now makes me very, very happy.
THE DINING AREA
The dining section of the porch sits in a corner behind the seating area, underneath the boxwood pendants.
The table and navy chairs are a Broyhill set I found at Home Goods last summer.
Melamine Appetizer Plates (similar HERE, HERE, HERE)
Glass Pitcher | Glass Tumblers
It’s not really part of the dining area, but I tucked an extra rocking chair in the other back corner of the porch, right across from the table and chairs.
THE BAR CART
The bar cart is an old TV stand I turned into a bar cart a couple years ago now. It’s great for housing drinks when we’re having people over, and I tucked it right inside the door to the house so people see where the drinks are and can serve themselves as soon as they step onto the porch.
Well I think that about does it! You can probably tell how much I adore this room from the abundance of photos, huh?!
Stay tuned for tutorials on the colorblocked pillow, the striped curtains, and the curtain rod. I’ll also let you know as soon as the tutorial for the fireplace is up on Home Depot’s site!

Love this space! I’m wondering if you can give me any details on what you did for the ceiling? Is that a white wash stain? Cedar or pine planks?
Thank you!
Jennifer@TheChroniclesofHome says
I know, I love that ceiling! But I don’t have any details on it – it came with the house. Sorry!
