Hi guys! It feels like I’ve been away from the blog here for awhile – I took an unplanned week off last week when I came down with a vicious sinus infection. This has been a bad winter for me for sickness – sure hope this is the end of it with the spring now firmly arrived in Boston.
I’m finally going to be showing off the kitchen updates this week – all that’s left in the renovation in the main part of the kitchen is painting the cabinets, which I hope I’ll get to in the next few weeks.
Today, I’m sharing the new counter, sink, and faucet we had installed.
As a reminder, here’s where we started.
There is just a bit of sparkle, which marble doesn’t have, but it’s very subtle. Most friends who have seen the new counter installed ask if it’s marble. I feel like I got the best of both worlds – the light, clean looks of marble with the strength and functionality of quartz or granite. I couldn’t love the counters more.
The stainless sink was replaced with an apron front fireclay sink.
I chose the Cerana sink by Blanco, in the 30″ size.
I wanted a faucet that made filling pots on the counter easy, and decided on the Hanover faucet by Pfister in stainless steel.
The pull-down feature makes rinsing the sink a breeze and the gooseneck shape is both elegant and functional. The Hanover faucet comes with other options for different handles and an included soap pump but I wanted the simplest look, with everything contained in one piece, and I prefer a freestanding soap dispenser.
These three updates completely transformed the look of this side of the kitchen.
I’ll be back tomorrow to show you how we opened up the wall between the kitchen and family room and to finally reveal the transom windows I’ve been talking about for ages!

Oh my goodness! Those are purty countertops!! Haven’t seen that stone before, love it! xo Kristin

Think it’s sandstone and quartz combined? Supposed to be harder than granite. I am borderline obsessed with them.

Totally want those counters, the best of both worlds!! Huge fan of gooseneck/single lever/pull down kitchen faucets, too–the best of ALL the worlds. Brava, can’t wait to see the transom!
So sorry about your sinuses :-( I swear the germs are gnarly once the kiddos arrive in our life.
xoxo

I am sort of irrationally in love with the counters. And the transoms too actually :) You are so right about the kid germs – haven’t been so sick for so long in all my adult life as I have the past few years. Petri dishes with legs!

I can’t believe that isn’t marble. You really CANT tell. It’s absolutely to die for. And I love the towel bar on the side!
Jennifer@TheChroniclesofHome says
Thanks! I really like that towel bar too – will be sharing details on it soon. And the counters are sublime :)
Gwen, The Makerista says
Those counters! I am really hoping to get something that looks like marble in our next home. I’ll have to keep this in mind!
Jennifer@TheChroniclesofHome says
That’s where I am now – we don’t plan to move again for a long, long time, so even though I’m sort of compelled to rush and get things put together, I also want to take my time and make sure I’m really doing it how I want it. Thanks, Gwen!
Gwen, The Makerista says
So smart! We’re hoping to move in the next few months, and I’m hoping I’ll have that kind patience too!
Heather Hurley says
How has your damasco white countertops held up? I have heard some people say that it is more of a marble then a quartzite
Jennifer@TheChroniclesofHome says
Totally awesome – I sealed them and no issues with stains or watermarks!
