I have two more home and food blog favorites to share with you today, starting with A Delightful Design. Its author, Abby, is a Michigan-based interior designer and shares lots of fantastic inspiration. I’ve been considering reupholstering my sofa for months now but wasn’t sure of the fabric I wanted to use until I saw how Abby had hers redone in this amazing apple green indoor/outdoor velvet (click here for the before and after).
It jump started my thinking about using velvet and I can’t wait to get started on redoing ours in a cream velvet.
I love the round-ups Abby does from time to time and always find myself so drawn to the interiors she highlights. She recently wrote about white vs. wood cabinets in kitchens. I know white kitchens are here, there, and everywhere, but seriously, isn’t this one Abby found to die for?
She also showed some really amazing wood-tone kitchen cabinetry that have none of the era-stigmatism so often associated with wood-colored kitchen cabinets.
Abby was one of the first bloggers out there to follow The Chronicles of Home and I can’t tell you how much it means to be a new blogger on the block and have someone say, “Hey, I like what you’re doing and I believe in you.” I always find myself inspired by Abby’s posts and hope you’ll stop over and take a look for yourself!
My food favorite for you today is Everyday Occasions by Jenny Steffens Hobick. I met Jenny last spring when she was living one town over from me in Massachusetts (she’s since moved back to her home state of Kansas) and she was as lovely and sweet in person as she comes across on her blog. I had just started writing this blog and was still taking food photos at night under my overhead lights until Jenny gave me some invaluable tips on using my camera properly (and shooting in daylight!). I’ve since done lots of research and practicing and have much, much to learn but I’m so grateful to Jenny for sharing what she’s leaned about photography and blogging when I was just starting out.
Now onto her gorgeously photographed and delicious food! One of my favorites is her recipe for “the best” sugar cookie.
It’s a great recipe to have in your pocket for any holiday or special occasion baking and Jenny also shares some great tips for mixing icing colors.
These little nuggets of wonderfulness just popped up on Jenny’s blog yesterday. Homemade salted caramel? Chocolate? Yes and yes.
Pop on over to see the details on how to make these homemade turtle candies and all of Jenny’s other amazing food ideas.
