I have a shortish list of fancies this Friday but, as you might imagine, I’ve been hyper distracted by all of this house selling and buying mumbo jumbo.
I will tell you this much about the buying end of things – we’ve found a house that we love and have had an offer on it accepted. Inspection is set for Monday and I am crossing my fingers harder than I ever have before – seriously, they’re about to snap – that everything goes well.
I’m not always (mmmm…maybe never) really good at keeping my hopes in check and I have been day-and-night-dreaming of the work I’ll do and the way we’ll furnish this house since the moment I first set foot in it. So today’s fancies all kind of revolve around my dreams.
I have become obsessed with finding a pair of vintage chairs in this style that I can love and call my own.
Scott is generally tolerant of my decorating whims but I feel certain he would draw the line at a pair of pink chairs in our (future) living room. But I’m okay with that. It’s the bones I love here, upholstery fabric TBD.
My grandmom has been so enthusiastic and supportive of my upholstery projects (it was her dad who was an upholsterer by trade) and she saved a Philadelphia Magazine for me last weekend to show me a picture of this porch swing.
She said, “It looked like something you’d do.” And guess what? I am now dying to try! Don’t be surprised to see something like this pop up as a DIY project sometime down the road. The cost to have these custom made is $1650 (eek!) but even if I could afford a porch swing that pricey, you know I’m a do-it-yourselfer at heart.
The last little (well…not exactly little) thing that caught my eye this past week was in my October Traditional Home magazine.
This “daughter’s room” was part of a showhouse in this crazy mansion, Adamsleigh, in NC. It was just off-the-charts opulent, and my daughters will have no where even remotely close to this much space in their new bedrooms…but…how cool it that nod to a canopy? I love that it forms both a backdrop for the bed and then has that whimsical little swag of fabric over the head of the bed.
And that is it for this week, friends! Hope you have a great weekend coming up. I’ll be testing a recipe for baked pumpkin cinnamon sugar doughnuts and finishing up some fall projects around the house. See you next week!
