Last week I shared part one of my summer tour with you…and then promptly went down HARD with pneumonia. Honestly, who gets pneumonia in summer?! So it’s been kind of a rough start to summer but I’m regaining strength and I’m sure will be fully back to myself soon. I’m glad I was on my feet enough to participate in the Simply Summer Home Tour hosted by Nina Hendrick. Nina and I spent lots of quality time together this past fall when we took the train to and from NYC for Better Homes & Gardens’ Stylemaker event. She is an absolute love and I’m so pleased to be part of this amazing group of women she collected to share summer home inspiration.
Even the phrase “Simply Summer” suits me just right. I keep things very simple in summertime because between travel, work, and afternoons at the pool I just don’t have time for complicated! I have made a few tweaks to my living room and guest room since you last saw them though, so I’m sharing those rooms with you today. Let’s start in the living room.
Blush velvet throw pillow
Aqua recycled glass vase
Faux palm leaf
Brass tulip candlesticks
Sunburst mirror
Branch end table
Spool chairs
Coral, white, and purple pillows
Feather juju hat wall hanging
Blue and white lamps (similar, similar, similar)
Wood bead chandelier
Navy blue sofa
Gold and marble end table
Gold urchin object
Blue and white pottery
Things haven’t changed a ton in here since the early spring but I did move a pair of coral, white, and purple pillows down from my bedroom and hung the juju hat above my beloved spool chairs. The spool chairs are currently almost $200 off, which almost never happens, so if you have wanted chairs like this for awhile, now is an amazing time to buy. I’ve never seen them this cheap.
Upstairs in the guest room I made a few small changes, mostly simplified the color palette a bit. One color I always come back to is navy blue and I brought this shade into the guest room in a big way with the new navy velvet chair. I also got a couple navy blue Euro pillow covers for the beds and navy blue with the kelly green of the headboards makes me all sorts of happy. A room just feels right to me when there’s some navy in it and I love it in every season. But it sure feels especially at home in summer.
DIY headboard
Duvet cover
Navy Euro pillow
Blush velvet throw pillow
Rug
Striped sheets
Navy velvet chair
Brass and marble side table
White tassel-edged drapes
Floor lamp
Brass table lamp
Bark mirror
Beveled full length mirror
Wallpaper
Striped throw blanket
Pom pom bedskirt
Windmill artwork
I have to stop and mentioned the tassel-edged curtains. It looks like they’re almost gone and they are an unbelievable deal – $39.99 for two panels. So both of these windows cost me $79.98. I was struggling to find a single panel for less than that before I stumbled onto these. If your windows need drapes, these are awesome, and you really can’t beat the price.
Thanks so much for stopping by today to see some of my summer home. Don’t miss the full tour, there are SO many gorgeous decorating ideas in these posts!
