I have swimsuits on the brain (one piece swimsuits specifically), which is odd considering it’s so cold lately my face hurts when I go outside. But not really that odd because every February I flee to Florida for a couple weeks to escape the cold and remind myself what warm sunshine feels like on my skin and what real outdoor air feels like to breathe. It’s a delightful break and always just what I need to recharge and mentally get me through the rest of winter.
With this vacation, however, comes the unfortunate necessity of exposing my snow white flesh to all the people (I am seriously considering a spray tan this year). A bikini always feels like a lot of skin to put out there when I have been so steadfastly covering allllll of my skin for months. I went on the hunt for a great one piece swimsuit to take with me and, holy cow, a HUNT it was. But after I waded through the matronly suits and the suits that had so much slashing and stringy bits I was no longer sure how they would stay in place and cover any of my parts without copious amounts of double sided tape, I found ten perfect one piece swimsuits. And perfect means, a. they do not look mostly suited to either a grandmother or a teenager, b. they have some pretty factor beyond a plain tank suit, c. they don’t make me feel like I have given up on wearing a cute swimsuit just because it’s not a bikini, and d. they offer enough all-around coverage for me to be comfortable playing with my girls but not so much coverage that I feel like I am in a beach snowsuit. I have plenty of time to wear things with snowsuit coverage when I get home.
