Ahhhhh, the time has finally come and I am so excited, you guys. I’ve shared plenty of photos of my living room before, both here on the blog and on social media. But truth be told, the room has been in limbo for the entire five and a half years I’ve lived in this house. It’s been usable, functional, and if you didn’t know better you might have thought it was already fully decorated and done. But it’s never been the cozy living room that I envisioned.
I’ve added a few permanent pieces to the space over the years – specifically a feather juju hat wall hanging, velvet drapes (at an excellent price point, click here), a wood beaded chandelier (currently 44% off!), white lacquered coffee table, and most recently a framed Teil Duncan print and a pair of gorgeous brass-capped chairs. What remains are the final furniture pieces, a pair of new wall sconces, and the wainscoting wall treatment I’ve had planned for the room pretty much since day one. So both some purchases and some DIY projects to take this room to 100%.
I’m going for a cozy living room vibe and so chose a few different textures and styles that will give the room that feel – a velvet sofa, a chunky knit blanket, and big, loungey chairs. The room isn’t very big, which definitely helps with that cozy feeling, but I wanted the actual pieces in the room to add up to a cozy space for hanging out.
Here’s a moodboard so you can see where I’m going with this cozy living room design. The new sofa is being delivered today (hooray!!!) and I’m hoping to have everything wrapped up in the new few weeks and ready to share with you (and for us to use!).
