It’s been a little while since I’ve mentioned the breakfast nook project here at my house, but in truth, I knew this would be a fairly slow-moving makeover. I’ve had some other projects on which I need to focus first so I’m taking this one slow. So far, I’ve shared with you the general plans for the space and my new affordable farmhouse table. Today I’m sharing the leather side chairs I’ve added, but first here’s a reminder of the plans for the breakfast nook.
Patterned pillows
Navy velvet pillows
Drum pendant light
Coated canvas buffalo check fabric
Abstract art print
Rattan chairs
Leather side chairs
Farmhouse table
A big part of the project will be constructing a built-in bench seat under the windows but I don’t expect to get to that project until the fall. The three leather side chairs I’ve added will sit across from where the window seat will be. I had a few requirements for these chairs – I wanted three so the table could seat eight people. I had 60″ of space between the legs which meant each chair, at most, could be 19.5″ in width, and ideally a little less than that so they weren’t super squeezed in under the table. I also wanted something kid-friendly, meaning no fabric.
When I came across the Hudson Side Chairs from Wayfair I knew they were absolutely perfect. Not only does the sled base of the chairs mimic the legs on my kitchen counter stools, which is nice for a sense of decorative flow through the kitchen, the leather seats are perfectly wipeable and low-maintenance. And they clock in at 17.7″ wide, so the perfect petite size for my table. They’re a little bit modern in style but leather is a classic material and that blend of classic and modern is my most favorite mix.
I also picked up a couple linen embroidered pillows from Wayfair for the end chairs. As you can see from the moodboard at the top of this post, these end chairs won’t be staying but the pillows will be great on the new end chairs, which are expected back in stock in August. The pillows are beautifully embroidered in a classic otomi pattern and come in seven gorgeous colorways (orange, oatmeal, navy blue, green, bright pink, pale blue, and yellow). They’re Beth Lacefield for Surya pillows, same as the accent pillows in my family room, and I love the simple but graphic patterns and amazing quality of this line.
So even with baby steps, my breakfast nook is getting there, and the addition of these three leather side chairs and accent pillows has gotten me one step closer to this space being finished and to the entire kitchen project, which has been a solid three years in the making so far, being truly complete. Hallelujah.
Disclosure: Wayfair sent me these three chairs and two pillows for review but all ideas and opinions expressed are sincere and my own.
