Last week, I put the finishing touches on the guest room makeover I’ve been working on the past few months. I’ll be sharing the finished room with you in August but for today I wanted to show you the last few pieces that pulled everything together. The wallpaper is definitely a showstopper in the room but I felt like the one full wall needed some wall art to break up the pattern a bit. I usually turn to Minted first when I’m looking for artwork and it didn’t take me long to fall in love with this Consuegra photograph.

Linen headboard
Leather bed bench
The soft colors and simple arrangement of the photograph don’t compete with the other colors and patterns in the room, but the print is still really striking. I chose the whitewashed herringbone frame, which is hand carved and so gorgeous. The description of the print says this photo was taken in Spain but even so it’s meant as a little nod to my Dutch heritage, where old windmills like this are such a famous part of the landscape.
Hanging was a cinch – Minted’s framed art comes wired and ready to hang so all I had to do was measure the center point on my wall, hammer in a picture hanger, and pop the print up on the wall. And I know sometimes the cost of shipping large artwork can be a holdup when ordering online but Minted is offering free shipping and free returns on all non-custom fine art prints with code SHIPFREE!
On the other side of the room I had placed my DIY bamboo blanket ladder but once the leather bed benches were in place the ladder felt a little too crowded. I swapped it out for a simple full-length mirror, which is something I always appreciate having in a guest room when I’m getting dressed.

Coral pillows
Over the past couple of years I have slowly but surely been growing my collection of house plants and have at least one in almost every room now. So far I just have this tabletop succulent in the guest room but I’m keeping an eye out for another tabletop plant for the top of the dresser between the beds.

The guest room gets lots of great natural light during the day but it was like a dimly lit cave at night with just the two petite bedside lamps for light. I stumbled across this pendant floor lamp recently and it is the perfect bit of extra light for the room. It’s really great quality for the price. I love that the drum shade has a solid bottom to diffuse the light shining through.
There have been a lot of big changes in this room but these final smaller touches, especially that gorgeous art print from Minted, have really been the icing on the cake. I can’t wait to share the final photos of the room with you next month!

Love this room! It’s always so tricky finding art for rooms for wallpaper–something that’s interesting but doesn’t overpower it. Great job!

Totally! I didn’t think I would put any wall art up but then when all was said and done I felt like it needed a little something. I’m such a fan of this print. Thanks, Gretchen!
