You know those weeks where you float through in a fog and get to the end and think, “What did I even DO this week?” Some weeks are just like that I suppose. And I sure had one. Here’s hoping for more productive time next week, but in the meantime I have my weekly roundup of favorites in home food, and fashion for you.
I actually don’t know if I just totally missed these shoes up until now or what, but I think my mouth actually dropped open the tiniest bit when I saw them. Quite possibly the perfect pretty fall and winter flat. I have the same shoe in red suede and wear them a ton – the flat profile makes them comfortable and casual enough for daytime wear but the lacing and pointed toe are details that take them just as easily into a night out. I love a hard-working pair of shoes! The addition of the fluffy pompoms at the ends of the ties have me positively swooning and the velvet fabric is the perfect update for winter. I love this purpley burgundy color but they also come in navy blue and black. And, you guys, they are under $50.

p.s. I like to tie mine in the front so the tie, and in this case pompom, is more visible!
As I mentioned last week, I’m in the middle of some of the last facelifting planned in my kitchen and just updated our aging and failing coffee maker. I wanted something programmable, with a carafe (no single serve makers, please), and I was hoping to find something with a little bit of pretty to it this time. Most carafe coffee makers are just plain utilitarian. This Kitchen Aid pour-over coffee maker met all my qualifications. And, I have to say, I am no coffee snob but I noticed right away what a tasty cup of coffee it brewed…maybe there is something to this pour-over method after all. It also comes in red and black.
This cookbook never fails to inspire me. I’ve had it for a year or two now but just pulled it out for the first time in awhile this week and have a head full of meal ideas now. The photos are absolutely gorgeous and while a lot of the preparations are a little fussy for my typical weeknight, I find it gives me adaptable ideas every single time. It’s all about fresh, delicious food, and that is my favorite kind.
I bought a pair of camo jeans last winter but they met an unfortunate fate at the hands of a blue marker left in someone’s pocket in the laundry (ahem…you know who you are). They cost me $4…seriously, you read that right…so it wasn’t the end of the world, except I actually wore them more than I thought I would and they’ve become something of a wardrobe staple for me. I’ve got my eye on this pair as a replacement. I like the muted gray tones and the stretchy fit (including a pull on waistband) looks crazy comfortable.
Hope you have a fun weekend ahead – we’re all abuzz around here with Halloween excitement!
