You guys.
It’s about to get hot in here.
Today’s post is just straight sexy. Are you ready?
Today I want to talk to you about…
Rug pads.
Was that just the blog equivalent of a cold shower? Did your excitement about the magical DIY secret I was about to share just fizzle to a bare simmer?
Admittedly, rug pads are not the most exciting topic when it comes to decorating.
BUT.
They’re like a really amazing bra or those yoga pants that make your bum look a couple inches higher.
They’re a pretty important foundation piece if you want your rugs to look their best and stay put.
Up until now, I always bought the cheapie rug pads from Home Goods – the plastic-y ones that have holes all over them. And a lot of the time they still function fine for me. However, I noticed that over time they can leave semi-permanent marks on hardwood floors and that is no good. No good at all.
They also don’t add much in the way of cushion under a rug. Which is no big deal if you’re working with a thick wool rug. But a flat weave rug needs a little extra something underneath to make it look a bit more plush.
You might remember that I recently put this rug in our dining room. And, no, I have still not painted the walls. Color selections are still running through my head so the apple green we bought the house with remains for now.
I love the simple colors and patterns and the flat weave but I knew it was going to need a hefty rug pad to really make it look its best.
Enter Rug Pad USA. They custom cut an 1/8″ thick felt and rubber rug pad, especially recommended for flat weave rugs.
One side is felt, which attaches itself to the underside of the rug.
The other side is rubbery and sticks to the floor, but without any residue or markings like the cheaper rubber pads can leave.
My dining room rug definitely has an extra little spring in her step. Like she just got custom fitted for a perfect bra. Because she kind of did. A rug’s equivalent, at least.
What about you? Have you ever used a rug pad like this before? I think I’m a convert.
