Can you tell I’m dreaming of architectural details lately? First I talked transom windows a few weeks ago (and I am thrilllllled that we’re able to add a few as part of our kitchen renovation), and now I am dreaming of coffered ceilings.
The depth and dimension they add to a room is unmatched in any other contemporary interior architectural detail. Without a single other thing in the room, a coffered ceiling says elegance, and polish, and attention to detail. I love that an otherwise soft, understated room can suddenly become a showstopper with coffers up above.
But then I came across Armstrong’s Residential Ceiling collection and, wouldn’t you know, they have a coffered option!
It is basically a coffered-ceiling-in-a-box that comes with complete instructions for installation. Because it covers the existing ceiling it’s great for damaged ceilings (which I, unfortunately, have in half a dozen places after our major roof leak a few weeks ago). Imagine taking a damaged ceiling like this…
…and without worrying about stain blocking and cracks and painting, turning it into a ceiling like this:
I don’t know about you, but I’m sold. The look is so elegant and Armstrong’s system really makes it seem doable for homeowners to take on themselves!
How do you feel about coffered ceilings? Do they draw you in or do you find them too over-the-top? I think my team is obvious :)
