Thanks for stopping by for day four of my Home and Food Reads series. My home pick for you today has become one of the blogs I most look forward to reading each day. Kristen of The Hunted Interior pulls together the greatest combination of DIY, high style, creativity, and upcycling. I think I could show you pictures of every one of her projects and say, “I love this!” but in the interest of keeping this post to less than a million words I’ll show you my two absolute favorites.
This DIY live edge table is amazing and looks so authentic. The real live edge table Kristin modeled this after costs $25,000. Yes. $25,000. With a few inexpensive materials Kristin got the same look for much, much less. So gorgeous.
My other favorite is a two-for-one. Kristin made both the cornice on the window by stenciling a drop cloth and stapling it to plywood and made the brass pendant over the sink from a bowl she picked up at Goodwill. Another home run, huh? You really need to carve out some time and poke around her backlog of projects, there is so much awesome inspiration to be had.
A favorite food blog I’ve mentioned here before is Ambitious Kitchen. Even in writing, Monique comes across as this friendly, vivacious, joie de vivre kind of person. Her recipes are downright amazing, often with a healthy spin. The girl’s a mean cookie baker, too, though. She first hooked me with her coconut banana bread.
It’s healthy, delicious, and smells downright intoxicating while it’s baking.
Another of my favorites are these black bean and chicken enchiladas with pumpkin sauce.
They are seriously wonderful, with the perfect little hint of sweetness from the pumpkin. Next time you need some meal inspiration, pop over and skim through the recipe index and you’ll find loads of ideas for delicious breakfasts, dinners, and desserts.
